The Principality of Wikingland was a micronation founded in 1977 by Reinhold Wendling, a resident of Sundbyberg, Stockholm, Sweden.

During the 1970s and 80s Wendling promoted schemes to realise the principality as a sovereign state based on broadly libertarian principles via the creation of artificial islands - initially at the site of Dogger Bank in the North Sea, and later in the Baltic Sea off the east coast of Sweden.

A promotional booklet published by Wendling during the early 1980s included detailed maps and artist's impressions of Wikingland's proposed main islands and cities in the Baltic iteration of his project.

There were to be three principal islands: South Midsjö, Hoburg and North Midsjö - located approximately midway between the Swedish island of Gotland and the Danish island of Bornholm.

Wikingland's capital city of Valhall was to be sited on the principal island of North Midsjö. Its intended enclosure beneath a giant plexiglass dome was designed to ensure a pleasant year-round climate for the inhabitants.

Other cities and towns on North Midsjö were to be named Njord, Hoder, Thyr, Frigg, Heimdall and Frej, while the "Prince's Residence" was shown as occupying the northernmost extremity of the island.

Three "satellite islands" named Tor, Balder and Odin were to be located in the sea to the northwest of North Midsjö, and be accessible from there by monorail. Fitted with massive turbines and solar panel arrays, these triangular-shaped multistorey structures were intended to satisfy all of Wikingland's power needs.

In April 2010 Wendling listed his house for sale via the annonser.se website.[1] As at October 2011 his place of residence is unknown.
