The State of Granbia was a micronation with territorial pretensions encompassing a semi-detached residence in Liverpool, England. It was created in 1974 by Royal Mail employee Andrew Richardson.
According to a promotional brochure produced in the late 1970s, Granbia was initially conceived as an island realm, but rapidly escalating prices for Scottish insular real estate having placed that possibility beyond Richardson's reach, it was instead declared to be "a state of mind" and a "brotherhood of friends".
The brochure includes a line drawing and a partial photograph of an elaborate gazebo which it refers to as the "Glass Palace", asserting that this structure was built in 1977-78 of yellow cedar, and located "in the grounds of Eaton Palace" (the backyard of Richardson's residence). It may be inferred from this that Granbia was situated on or near Eaton Road, a major thoroughfare in the eastern Liverpool district of Sandfield Park.
Also depicted in the brochure are the artefacts comprising Granbia's royal regalia, which seem to have been closely modelled on items from among the British Crown Jewels. They include a ceremonial sword commissioned from Wilkinson Sword, a ring by Liverpool jewellers Boodle & Dunthorne and a gilded silver coronet-style crown from internationally renowned goldsmith Stuart Devlin.
The brochure identifies a "First Lord, Lord Nutall", a "Baron Ted, Royal Couturier", two un-named "Poet Laureates" and an un-named "Court Artist" as members of Granbia in addition to Richardson, and declares the kingdom's designated "ceremonial drink" to be Manx mead.
